Are your fish under stress? Acting lethargic? Not to fear Serenity Ponds is here!
We can help diagnose the issue by initially performing a WATER QUALITY SAMPLE of the pond water to see if there are any toxic chemicals found, for example – AMMONIA , NITRITE AND NITRATE – The way the NITROGEN CYCLE works is explained in the picture below.
We we will also test the SALINITY in the water, as salt helps promote the slime coat of your fish which is their primary defense against PARASITES and temporary relief from the TOXINS and BACTERIA.
Secondly we will perform a MICROSCOPE SCRAPE of the slime coat to see if there are any PARASITES present that are affecting your fish. Such parasites could include
GILL FLUKES , SKIN FLUKES, TRICHODINA, CHILODONELLA and COSTIA
We will identify the issue and tackle the problem with the proper medications which are safe for your pond plants and fish.
*ALWAYS REMEMBER TO QUARANTINE YOUR FISH FOR MINIMUM 1 WEEK PRIOR TO INTRODUCING YOUR NEW ADDITIONS TO YOUR COLLECTION.
For a proper Quarantine setup you will need
- Adequate Filtration (Already seeded with beneficial bacteria for proper Water Chemistry)
- Plenty of Water Changes (Of course adding De-Chlorinator for each change)
- Maintaining Salinity at .40% will help promote slime coat, also helps with Osmo-regulation. (Will need Salinity meter for exact readings)
- Microscope for Slime Coat Analysis
- Water Quality Test Kit
